Courses will be held at both the Morris County Library in Whippany, NJ (in the conference room) and the Parsippany-Troy Hills Library in Parsippany, NJ (in Group Study Room 1). All classes go from 7:00 pm - 8:30 PM.

Wed 9/9 (Parsippany Library): 101 - Introduction to Germanic Paganism. A broad overview covering the history, language, society, religion, and magical practices of the Germanic peoples. This is the prerequisite for all certification tracks.
Tue 9/29 (Morris County Library): 111 - Sources and Language of Germanic Lore. Covers the various written, archaeological, and folkloric sources which give us our understanding of Germanic culture and myth. Also includes tips on resources for learning and using the Old Norse and Anglo-Saxon languages.

Wed 10/14 (Parsippany Library): 211 - Historical Overview of the Germanic Peoples. To know where we are going, we must understand whence we come. Perspectives on the history of the Germanic peoples from the Roman era through the modern day, with particular attention to the process of Christianization and the modern Northern Revival.
Thu 10/29 (Morris County Library): 311 - Basic Techniques of Magic. Certain practical skills are universal across almost all magical practices; meditation, breath control, visualization, energy work, and so forth. This will be a hands-on participatory class to develop these skills as well as a discussion on theories of ritual structure, the ethics of magic, and so forth.

Wed 11/4 (Parsippany Library): 212 - The Germanic World-View. A significant part of the modern Northern revival is a conscious attempt to re-create the ancient Germanic world-view. Covers concepts such as honor, family, the importance of oaths, the gift-cycle, warriorship, the role of women, etc.
Mon 11/16 (Morris County Library): 312 - Omens and Divination. The ancient Germanic peoples were famed for the attention they paid to omens, and for their practice of divination to determine the will of the Gods in matters both important and minor. This course will describe both the theory and specific practices behind these beliefs.

Wed 12/9 (Morris County Library): 313 - Overview: The Runes. An overview covering the various runic futharks; the Elder, Younger, Anglo-Saxon, Armanen, and their variants and off-shoots. The basics of runic magic will also be covered, but students interested in in-depth rune-work are encouraged to take the follow-on course, 314 - Using the Younger Futhark (currently planned to be offered in the Winter 2010 semester).
Wed 12/30 (Parsippany Library): 213 - Ginnungagap, Ragnarok, and Everything in Between. The cosmology of the Germanic universe, from the beginning of the world through its fiery destruction and renewal. The Nine (Seven?) Worlds, the World Tree, different conceptions of the afterlife, and more.
